On Friday, July 6, The Decatur County Career Criminals Unit accompanied by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Charlie Everitt, 63, for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of marijuana.
According to Investigator Adam Mobley, the investigation on Everitt started on June 13, after receiving information from an informant that Everitt was selling crack cocaine.
The unit began to gather intel and plan their operation. Within a few weeks of gathering information, the unit had enough evidence to obtain a search warrant.
Friday afternoon, the Career Criminals Unit held a briefing with the Criminal Investigation Division and the Crime Scene Unit and then proceeded to Everitt’s residence to execute the search warrant.
Upon entering, the unit found approximately one ounce of cocaine, a quantity of marijuana, multiple firearms, and U.S. currency.
The unit was pleased with the turnout of the operation and asks the public to please contact the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office with any drug related tips.
