Mrs. Clara Jean Sharber Skarponi

Mrs. Clara Jean Sharber Skarponi, age 87, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, in Delray Beach, Florida. Her service was held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge, Georgia. Dr. Pete Sharber officiated. Interment followed in Oak City Cemetery. Jerry Sharber, Eddie Sharber, Jes Sharber, Matthew Sharber, Daniel Sharber, Blake Brock, Brian Zorn, and Stephen Rogerson served as pallbearers.

Clara Jean Skarponi was born February 22, 1931, in Bainbridge, Georgia. Her parents, J. O. Sharber and Clara Mae Mills Sharber, have preceded her in death. On December 20, 1953, Jean married the love of her life, Alan Skarponi. A few years later, a daughter, Jeannie, completed their family. Mrs. Skarponi worked for the National Safety Council in Pinellas County, Florida for 15 years. She was an avid golfer. Jean was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gathering her family or neighbors together and preparing meals. Jean was smart, gracious, caring, and friendly. She was a wonderful wife and amazing mother. Jean Skarponi will be deeply missed by her family and the many, many friends she loved so very much.

Clara Jean Skarponi is survived by her husband of 65 years, LTC Alan Skarponi (Ret.) of Wellington, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie Heyman and Eric of Boynton Beach, Florida; sister, Martha Clement of Bainbridge, Georgia; brothers, James E. Sharber of Bainbridge and Pete Sharber and wife, Faye of Leesburg, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Alice Veneble.
