Bainbridge is putting the past few games in the rearview mirror and only looking forward.

After slipping to 2-3 following a tough 23-0 loss to Crisp County at home last Friday night, the Bearcats are working on the little things that will hopefully pay big dividends Friday night.

“We are working on just getting better,” said coach Jeff Littleton. “We are not worried about Friday night. We are taking each day, day by day. We have to realize that we have to take care of the processes and be more consistent in what we’re doing. The dividends will come on Friday night.”

Bainbridge certainly has its work cut out for it this week as the Bearcats host Tift County (3-2) AAAAAAA), who competes in the same region as Colquitt County and Lowndes County. The Blue Devils’ two losses include their season opener to Warner Robins, one of Bainbridge’s region opponents, and Parkview. Tift County defeated Crisp County 42-0 earlier this month.

The Blue Devils quarter is a former Crisp County Cougar, and despite an injury earlier in the season, has put up some impressive numbers so far. Patrick Felton, a senior, is 26-for-48 with 381 yards and five touchdowns in the three games he’s played in.

Felton’s favorite target Tyler Ajiero, who has caught 16 passes for 272 yards and scored four touchdowns. Jameson Turner has also posted big numbers through five games, catching 13 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. Both are seniors.

“They have two really good receivers,” confirmed Littleton. “We have our work cut out for us, but we are going to be up to the challenge.”

Littleton said the Tift County offense is very similar to Bainbridge’s, with lots of power and counter plays.

The Blue Devils run an even front defense with big talent up front and plenty of speed on the back end.

“I told the kids, we have to prepare this week and be at our best,” said Littleton.

Bainbridge’s sophomore running back Rashad Broadnax is taking his ankle injury day by day after leaving the game last Friday following a rough tackle. The team isn’t letting injuries or losses hang over their heads, though.

“We have a great attitude and had a great practice yesterday,” said Littleton. “We are just working hard and getting better every day. Everybody is holding each other accountable. Every-body is pushing everybody to be better.”

Bainbridge kicks off against Tift County Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field.
