Georgia Power’s outage map shows more than 50,000 customers, including those in Bainbridge, are without power. Crews are assessing damage and will begin restoring power as soon as possible, but Bainbridge City Manager Chris Hobby said this morning it could be several days before that happens.
Georgia Power updated its web site with the following message:
“Hurricane Michael continues to impact service to Georgia Power customers. As of 6 a.m. nearly 200,000 customers are without power. In response, Georgia Power has approximately 3,900 crew members from around the state, other Southern Company operating companies and assisting utilities ready to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.
After the storm moves out of the affected areas and travel conditions are safe, damage assessment teams will begin to evaluate the impacted areas and begin the restoration process. Service and repair crews will follow and begin restoration efforts.
