First National Bank recently donated books to Decatur and Grady County Schools.  In addition, the bank also delivered books to its newest market, Destin, Florida and will soon deliver books to Miller County Schools.

“Several on our team began to share the conversations they had with their children and grandchildren after the Hurricane.  Precious children were fearful and anxious”, said First National Bank Vice President of Marketing, Lorenda Smith.  “I thought about the thousands of children going back to school with many questions. Knowing the hearts of our educators, I wanted to find a way that we as a community bank could help,” continued Smith. “I discovered Chandra Ippen’s book, “Once I Was Very Very Scared” and thought it would be helpful to read to the children.  First National Bank CEO & President Brad Barber supported the idea of purchasing these books to provide Pre-K Teachers in our local schools”.
