For job-seekers and career climbers alike, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) provides a variety of training and educational resources. At its core, SRTC is a two-year college that emphasizes programs of study which will provide employment opportunities in high demand jobs for its graduates. In addition to the traditional credit offerings of higher education institutions, the Economic Development division at SRTC provides noncredit training opportunities for employees and individuals who have a desire to improve their employment potential. These training opportunities include Customized Contract Training, Continuing Education, and Personal Enrichment courses.
Customized Contract Training
The SRTC Economic Development division staff works with employers to provide on-site training that can be customized to improve the skills your company requires. Our training capabilities include computer and software training, leadership, soft skills, team building, and more. The process begins with skills assessments that will identify the areas for improvement. If your business has applicants or employees that need to be evaluated, the Economic Development division can meet that need with job skills assessments.
Continuing Education
Continuing Education opportunities for individuals and companies include but are not limited to: American Heart Association CPR certification for providers and instructors, Driver’s Education 36-hour courses for 15 to 17-year-old children, ServSafe Food Handling certifications through the National Restaurant Association, and many online classes via our online training partners.
Through a new partnership with our online healthcare education provider Health Ed Today, SRTC now offers a Pharmacy Technician Program. The new program is a non-credit offering and is delivered through the Economic Development division. This comprehensive 50-hour program will prepare students to work as a Pharmacy Technical in hospitals, retail, or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. There is also a required 80-hour clinical externship.
Personal Enrichment
Personal Enrichment courses enable you to explore new interests, develop skills, and further your passions. Engaging courses such as cake decorating, learning to sew, learning to crochet, and many others are offered through Economic Development at SRTC. These activities are wonderful venues to meet new people and expand your network.
