Tiger peaked at The Masters

A season that started off with one of the greatest comeback stories in sports history has sputtered and slowed to a halt.
Tiger Woods, sitting on a heavy 6-over through the first two rounds of The Open, will likely miss the cut. After winning the Masters in April, I half-expected Tiger’s highly competitive spirit to ignite inside him like the days of old, where winning two majors a year was the norm. Perhaps that was a little naive.
Tiger’s failure to make the cut at The Open isn’t for a lack of trying, though. Videos were posted of the 15-time major winner readjusting his internal clock weeks ahead of the tournament, waking up at 1 a.m. to prepare his body for Ireland’s Royal Portrush course. My only thought was, if you’re that dedicated to tuning your body to a new time zone, why not just fly out to the United Kingdom and live it for a few weeks? Maybe Tiger had other obligations where he couldn’t do that. Who knows.
Despite Tiger’s drop off the earth after the Masters, it has still been a fun season. I enjoyed seeing Brooks Koepka win the PGA Championship, and I’m sure more surprises are in store for us this weekend. I would personally like to see Koepka win again. Spieth also seems to be clinging on and could make a run for his second Open trophy.
