Bainbridge residents will soon have one more option when they’re in the mood for a fried chicken meal or a biscuit.
Popeyes, a fried chicken fast food restaurant, is planning to build a restaurant on Highway 27 in front of Home Depot, confirmed Bainbridge Planning Coordinator Steve O’Neil.
O’Neil did not have information on when construction is set to begin or when the expected opening is, but civil drawings have been completed and building drawings are currently under review.
The site doesn’t require a lot of work, according to O’Neil, who predicted it would not take long to build the business once construction is under way.
Popeyes began in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is headquartered in Miami, Florida. The chain has 3,102 locations. The closest locations to Bainbridge are Quincy and Thomasville.
The restaurant serves fried chicken and sandwich dishes, and offers sides like red beans and rice, Cajun fries, macaroni and cheese, biscuits and coleslaw.
Most recently, the restaurant became a hot topic after debuting its new chicken sandwich.
According to Popeyes social media, the restaurant chain ran out of stock of chicken sandwiches due to popularity among customers and has temporarily taken the item off its menu.
