Frances O. Allen Cox, age 76, passed away at her home in Cairo, Georgia,

Monday, October 7, 2019.  Services for Mrs. Cox will be held at 11 a.m.Thursday, October 10, at Eastside Baptist Church.  The Rev. Chris Allen, Rev. Andrew Donaldson, and Rev. Carl Harrell to officiate.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.  Brandon Cox, Caleb Stokes, Jacob Stokes, Ellis Cox, Chris Nereim, and Tony Allen will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10:00.

Frances O. Allen was born September 27, 1943, in Esom Hill, Georgia, to William Frank Allen and Mary Anne Roberts Allen.  Frances married the love of her life, Wallace Harold Cox on July 22, 1961.  She and Wallace were together 54 years before his death December 12, 2015.  Frances was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother.  Frances took her job as homemaker very seriously.  She enjoyed cooking and had 3 meals on the table every day.  Shewas a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church for many years.  Frances loved people.  She and Wallace lived in the same house and neighborhood for over 50 years.  Her neighbors described her as a great friend and neighbor.  Her love for flowers and generous spirit had her always ready to share a cutting or a plant with whoever came by.  Frances crocheted and quilted.  She had a special love for her grandchildren and, especially, the great-grandchildren.  She loved sharing one-on-one how to make biscuits or how to crochet with her great grands.  She discussed their interest and made special memories whenever she could.  Frances will be deeply missed by her family and many, many friends.

Frances Cox is survived by her children, Sherrie Ann Thompson and husband, Dennis of Pelham, Georgia, Mary Jennifer Cox Stokes of Cairo, and Steven Harold Cox and wife, Chastity of Cairo; grandchildren, Sandra (Sandy) Allen and husband, the Rev. Chris Allen of Cairo, Caleb Stokes and wife, Brandi of Thomasville, Georgia, Jacob Stokes and wife, Laura of Cairo, Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Courtney Cox of Norfolk, Virginia, Sgt. Kayla Rivera of Ocean Side, California, and Brandon Cox of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Chloe Allen, Cate Allen, Milani Rivera, and Knoxx Rivera; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Juanita Stewart.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Patricia Diane Murphy and Jean Watts; and brother, Jerry Allen.
