Three Rivers Credit Union (TRCU), headquartered in Bainbridge, GA has officially announced plans to partner with Georgia’s Own Credit Union, an 85 year-old financial institution out of Atlanta, GA, pending regulatory approval. The partnership is an opportunity to provide Three Rivers’ membership with an expanded service platform and is expected to yield even greater value for the combined membership in terms of better rates and fewer and lower fees on banking products. In addition to more robust online and mobile services and an expanded footprint with Georgia’s Own statewide locations, the partnership will enable Three Rivers members to take advantage of the Credit Union Shared Service Center Network, which has 5,600 locations throughout the country, 170 in Georgia alone.
The Three Rivers branch location on W. Shotwell St. in Bainbridge will remain open and all TRCU staff intact, including President Thomas Joyce, who will transition to the Georgia’s Own regional team. Says Joyce of the partnership, “Our team is thrilled to be able to offer such an expanded range of products and services to our membership with an organization in Georgia’s Own who shares our values and commitment to culture, the community, and unmatched service.”
For Georgia’s Own, this merger represents continued growth throughout the state, on the heels of the merger with Albany-based DOCO Credit Union, which is moving toward a January 1, 2020 legal closure (pending regulatory approval). Georgia’s Own President & CEO, Dave Preter, says of the mergers, “At Georgia’s Own, our goal is to offer the utmost in financial services through our mission of Banking on Purpose, and the addition of DOCO and Three Rivers Credit Unions will help us deliver on that promise in a significant way. Not only will our combined membership increase the benefits received by all through the member-owner model, but we will also be able to offer expanded branch access with 33 locations, and also magnify our social impact through joint giving efforts.”
Georgia’s Own and TRCU are aiming for the merger to become official in the 3rd quarter of 2020.
Georgia’s Own Credit Union has been a source of full-service banking and financial solutions for
Georgians since 1934. The 85 year-old credit union serves metro Atlanta and surrounding areas, as well as Savannah and Augusta, through its branch locations, its contact centers, 24/7 phone banking, as well as its mobile, tablet and online banking platforms.
