Mavis Ann Eidson Cook, age 76, of Whigham, Georgia passed away very early on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. Mrs. Cook was at her daughter’s home in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Cook will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2019, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Mr. Curtis Eidson and the Rev. E. W. Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. James Baggett, Brian Cox, Danny Alday, John McCullough, Andy Fitch, and Marvin Edenfield will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1 p.m.
Mavis Ann Eidson Cook was born in Decatur County, Georgia to William Andrew Eidson and Nony Johnson Eidson. She has been a longtime resident of Whigham, Georgia. Mavis was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. She was a hard worker, head strong, but willing to help anyone who had a need. Mavis loved working in her yard. She especially loved the Christmas season. Her family was her heart, especially her grandchildren. Mavis Cook will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mavis Cook is survived by her children, Delila Reynolds and husband, Flint of Bainbridge; Perry Cook of Whigham; James Cook of Whigham; Mechille Ochoa of Bainbridge; and Dale Cook and wife, Lisa of Eldorendo, Georgia; a brother, Curtis Eidson and wife, Louise of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Clifford (Man) Reynolds and Christle Cook.
