Juanita Shepard was born October 5, 1939 in Augusta, Ga, the daughter of Byron and Lois Thomas Shepard. She married Ray Smith in 1959 and they made their home in Brinson. Juanita was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
“Nita”, as she was affectionately known, enjoyed every aspect of having a house full of family. Her grandchildren brought joy unspeakable and left just a little “tainted”. Christmas was Nita’s favorite time of year and she made sure everyone had a gift under her tree. Fishing and “sister trips” gave Nita plenty of material for conversations at the creek or around her table.
Survivors include her children, Cindy Faircloth, Peggie & Greg Haire, Rocky & Tabitha Smith, all of Bainbridge, Ga. and Chad & Chavonne Smith of Brinson; her siblings, Betty Smith of Wewahitchka, Fla., Patty Heard of Bainbridge, Connie Clark of Thomasville, Ga., and Billy Shepard of Ashburn, Ga.; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, Christopher, Brian, Jennifer, Keith, Brandy, Brad, Terri, Monica, Jasmine, Zander, and Judson; and her eighteen great-grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Ray Smith; and her son, Dale Smith.
