Miller County Sheriff Scott Worsley, age 50, died Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 30, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at Colquitt First Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Barwick and Craig Tully officiating.
Interment followed at the Colquitt City Cemetery with Dan Stone, Tyrone Burns, Buzz Grimsley, Chubb Bozeman, Jeff Reed, and Hugh Franklin serving as pall bearers. Visitation was held Friday, October 30, 2020, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Colquitt First Baptist Church.
Sheriff Worsley was a lifetime resident of Miller County and had over thirty years in law enforcement, 23 of those serving the citizens of Colquitt and Miller County. In his career he served as a public safety officer, criminal investigator, fire investigator, probation manager, Chief of Police for the City of Colquitt and as chairman for the Pataula Drug Task Force.
He was a graduate of Miller County High School Class of 1988, the ABAC Police Academy, Bainbridge College, Thomas University, University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government and the FBI National Academy Session 226.
He was also a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church and was past president of the Colquitt Lions Club.
Scott was also running for re-election for another term as Sheriff of Miller County.
He is survived by his wife, Natalie Worsley of Colquitt; one son, Gabe Worsley of Colquitt; stepdaughter Reagan Bellflower of Colquitt; stepson Gabriel Dunaway of Bainbridge; parents, Henry and Linda Worsley of Colquitt; one brother, Todd (Lisa) Worsley of Monroe; grandfather, Lamar Gordon of Colquitt; and parents-in-law, Wallace and Vicki Phillips of Colquitt.
Mr. Worsley was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Tonya Jarvis Worsley; one daughter, Ansley Diane Worsley; maternal grandmother, Freddie Gordon; and paternal grandparents, Douglas and Mamie Worsley.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
