The Decatur County Schools’ Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1997 with a mission to promote excellence in Decatur County Schools. Educators apply annually for grants funded by the Foundation, to reward academic excellence and provide cultural experiences for students that would not otherwise be funded by tax dollars or fundraising activities. Members of the DCSF Board recently made a presentation to Sheila Jackson, Preston Poitevint and Colby Moore on behalf of Bainbridge Middle School.
Mrs. Jackson, Mr. Poitevint and Mr. Moor submitted grant requests for students participating in the Georgia Studies Tour, which will bring state history and social studies curriculum out of the classroom and into a real, personal experience for our 8th grade Georgia Studies students. These Team Leaders with a group of participating students will travel to these proposed tour highlights across the state of Georgia: Savannah, Andersonville, Plains, Dahlonega, native American Historical Sites, Warm Springs & The Little White House and the Okefenokee Swamp. This travel experience will be beneficial to these students and will allow outside-the-classroom learning while also enhancing social interaction and promote academic excellence.
The DCSF, Inc. is proud to be a part of making a difference in the lives of students in Decatur County. You too can make a difference in the life of Decatur County Students through a donation made payable to the Decatur County Schools’ Foundation, Inc. and mail to P.O. Box 1070, Bainbridge, GA 39818. Your consideration is much appreciated.
