Bainbridge youth win their division at Level 7 Tennis Tournament

The Bainbridge Tennis Center hosted their Level 7: Bainbridge Spring Bash Junior Level Tennis Tournament over the weekend, where over 30 youth competed.
The tournament had four categories for both Boys and Girls. There was a 12 & under category, a 14 & under category, a 16 & under category and an 18 & under category.
For the Boys’ 12 & under singles, Harrison Lampman of Moultrie took home 1st place. He beat Houston Sanders of Whigham, 4-0, 4-0, before defeating William Chen of Tallahassee in a difficult set of three, 4-1, 2-4, 7-5.
Bainbridge shined in the Boys’ 14 and under singles.
Cullen Glover of Bainbridge and Jaden Beam of Bainbridge took 1st and 2nd place.
Glover won all four of his matches. He beat Jack Taunton of Hartsfield, 4-0, 4-0, before beating Gage Hall, also of Bainbridge, 4-1, 4-2. He finally beat Bemt 4-0, 4-0. This was Beam’s only loss.
Beam won over Taunton 4-1, 5-3 and Hall 4-2, 4-2.
In Group two, Mitchell Carter of Bainbridge took home 4th place, while Tanner Clark took home 5th.
For the Boys’ 18 & Under singles, Skylar Jones of Bainbridge took home 2nd place, after a tough match to Weston Lee. Jones lost in a tiebreaker set, 3-5, 5-3, 6-8.
The tournament then showcased the Girls.
In the Girls’ 12 & Under Singles, Gracyn Quinones of Thomasville, took home 1st place beating Zoe Xu of Tallahassee, 4-1, 5-3, Annsley Black of Columbus, 4-0, 2-4, 8-6 and Harper Trawick of Bainbridge, 4-0, 4-2.
Trawick ended up placing 4th in the category.
Bainbridge shined again in the Girls’ 14 & Under.
Caroline Maxwell placed 1st in Group two, beating all three of her opponents.
She won over Frances Bius of Moultrie, 5-3, 4-1, before beating Emily Lampman of Moultrie, 4-0, 4-0 and finally won over Kayla Wiley of Nashville, Ga., 4-1, 4-2.
Director of Racquets, Mark Gonzales was proud of all the competitors.
“I think our kids are doing a good job competing, some of them are competing for the very first time, so it’s a neat experience for the kids,” he said.
Rather they won or lost, Gonzales said he believed the competitors learned something during the junior tournament.
