Therman Barber, age 98, of Brinson, Georgia, passed away June 18, 2022.

The funeral service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jamie McMillan and Rev. Roy Matthews officiating. Private interment will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Therman was born Friday, March 28th, 1924, in Brinson, Georgia, the son of Everett Isaac Barber and Bertha Doreena Barber. He graduated from West Bainbridge High School with the class of 1940. Therman served in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was known for his work for Bainbridge Public Safety for 27 years. He retired in 1989 as Captain of the police force. After his retirement, he continued to patrol the backroads of Bethany never reaching speeds above 30 mph.

Therman also loved farming and frequented the corn fields of Scott Farms to pick up fresh free corn to disburse to family and friends. He was a lifelong member and a faithful attendant of Bethany Baptist Church. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include grandchildren, Chris Barber (Connie) of Brinson, Ga., and Brandy Daniels (Steve) of Brinson, Ga.; great granddaughter, Lindsey Sandifer (Luke) of Brinson, Ga.; and great-great-granddaughter, Grace Sandifer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Therman was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Murl Barber; parents; numerous siblings; sons, Jerome Barber and Larry Barber.
