Travis Politakis has been named a sports reporter for The Post-Searchlight, Bainbridge Living magazine, and the publications’ associated websites. He began work Monday.

Politakis, 22, comes to Bainbridge from Houston, Texas.

Politakis grew up in Houston and graduated from Frassati Catholic High School in 2018. He then attended the University of Tampa, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Communication.

While at Tampa, he held three roles for The Minaret Student Newspaper including Head Copy Editor, Sports Editor and Sports Writer. Politakis also attended the Walter Cronkite Sports Broadcast Program in the Summer of 2018 and covered the MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks.

“I am extremely grateful to have an opportunity to begin my career and immerse myself in sports which is something I have a strong passion for,” said Politakis. “I can’t wait to learn about Bainbridge and bring the community together through sports.”

Post-Searchlight Managing Editor Jill Holloway said Politakis is a well-rounded sports reporter that will bring strong creativity and work ethic to The Post-Searchlight.

“I am very excited to have Travis join our staff and become involved in the Bainbridge community,” Holloway said. “I fully expect him to immerse himself in Bainbridge and Decatur County while delivering relevant sports news to our readers every day.”
