Described as a “Jack of all trades” and a perfectionist, Phillip was best known for his woodworking skills. His carpentry projects and products of his green thumb were daily evidence of someone who not only loved the outdoors but cared do things right. Animals, especially Diesel, were tended with kindness and compassion. Phillip was a history buff and avid Florida State Seminoles fan. He was proud of his knowledge of Native American culture and spent hours searching for arrowheads that became tangibles to the historical accounts that intrigued him.

Survivors include the love of his life, Vera Barber; his daughter, Carla Lynn Skelly and her husband, John, of Crawfordville, Fla.; his four-legged son, the best Boston terrier & sidekick, Diesel; his grandchildren, Dillan, Chris, Wyatt, and Zaiden; his siblings, Sidney (Josephine) Pope, Julia (Richard) Starling Valynda Ussery, and Robert (Sarah) Pope; and a host of extended family.
