Memorial Hospital and Manor recently received a considerable donation from one of Bainbridge’s respected doctors. Dr. Philip Todaro retired from the medical field in 2019, but chose to make $50,000 donation to the hospital this year; he made another donation last year as well.
“We were really overwhelmed the first time you gave us this money, we really appreciated it. To get it a second time was just phenomenal,” Memorial CEO Jim Lambert told the Post-Searchlight. “Dr. Todaro practiced here for a number of years… a great asset to this community and this organization, so we really appreciate his commitment during his practice to the patients and the community.”
Dr. Todero, originally born in Italy, emigrated to the US in 1959, and practiced family medicine in Bainbridge for 47 years before retirement. “The hospital was instrumental in helping me to establish a very nice practice,” he said, “so it’s the least I can do to help back.”
The hospital has no set obligations for usage of the funds. “If you wanted to, we would definitely go with your wishes, but we appreciate the flexibility that that gives us,” Lambert said to Todaro, “that gives a lot of opportunity.” He continued, “We always have lots of needs as you know. In healthcare, you have lots of needs and things aren’t cheap, so we appreciate having those dollars to do those things with.”
When asked if there was anything else he wanted to say for the article, Dr. Todaro simply responded with “Ciao y’all.”
