Graveside services for Benjamin Franklin Pennington, 84, of Tallahassee, Fla., will be held Thursday, June 2, at 4 p.m. at the Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating.

Mr. Pennington was born April 6, 1927, in Hamilton, N.J., to Frank and Isabelle Pennington. He died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Seven Hills Health and Rehab Center in Tallahassee.

He served in the Merchant Marines, and was talented in many areas. Mr. Pennington was an executive and artisan for many years for a company that specialized in blown glass. He loved to fish, commercially or for pleasure. For the last nine years in Tallahassee, he was known as the “Peanut Man.”

He was preceded in death by his son, Clayton Nix.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Pennington of Tallahassee; his children, Julie Barron and Kevin Smith, both of Tallahassee; his grandchildren, Miranda Barron of Tallahassee, Britney Smith of Bainbridge, Justin Nix of Marianna, Fla., and Jessica Nix of Crawfordville, Fla., and seven great-grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
