The Bainbridge Bass Cats’ season came to a close over the weekend, with freshman duo Brennan Enfinger and Corbyn Thompson traveling to Clark Hills Lake in Appling, Georgia, to compete in the GHSA Bass Fishing state championship. There were 107 teams competing on the lake that day; the Bass Cats had three teams that qualified, but unfortunately, graduation fell on the same day as the tournament, leaving only Enfinger and Thompson to compete.
The Bass Cats previously went to state last year, ultimately winning the championship; this year, the Cats came in fifth, with Enfinger and Thompson having a total catch weight of 15 lbs. 8 ounces. When speaking to the Post-Searchlight, Coach Roy Matthews stated he was impressed with the anglers, “just amazed at how these teams grind it out on the lake and fish through the adversity all season long.”
