BAINBRIDGE – Two independent scholarships targeted at students pursuing a degree in education were presented to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Bainbridge student Macy Batchelor, a Seminole County native studying early childhood education.
Beverly Pollock, representing the Fidelis Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta sorority, presented Batchelor with the Julia P. White Alpha Kappa Delta scholarship, and Clair Dunlap, representing the Decatur County Retired Educators Association, presented her with the Decatur County Retired Educators Association Scholarship.
Both scholarships are awarded to a student pursuing a degree in education with a GPA 3.0 or higher who is a resident of Decatur, Early, Miller, or Seminole Counties.
“I am so appreciative of this scholarship,” Batchelor said. “Not only does it provide financial relief, but it is a symbol of support for the next generation of educators. I am so proud to be part of this legacy. This scholarship is more than just funds; it’s a vote of confidence in my future as an educator. ”
Upon graduation, Batchelor said she plans to remain in Southwest Georgia to make a positive impact on rural education.
“Macy’s qualifications most certainly exceed the scholarship’s requirements, and her drive and determination will help her fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher,” Pollock said. “She will be an asset to any faculty.“
“Macy has the personality for being an excellent teacher,” said Dunlap. “She has a positive attitude, as well as a genuine caring for children. She is very deserving of this scholarship.”
