The Lady Cats fell to the Cairo Syrupmaids in both games of a doubleheader Thursday night. The losses put the Lady Cats 0-3 against the Syrupmaids this season. Cairo’s victories over Bainbridge crowned them Class AAAA Region 1 champions.
The Syrupmaids took the first doubleheader game 4-0 and the second 11-1. The two teams played the day before, and the Lady Cats fell to Cario 6-7 in the final inning.
“That doesn’t define us,” said Lady Cats head coach Rex Wade. “We wanted those games, and we wanted a region championship, but those don’t define us ultimately. We’ve got more ball to play, and we’ve got to keep working.”
Up next for the Lady Cats is a rematch against Thomas County Central. The teams played once this season, and the Lady Cats won 1-0. Bainbridge will travel to the Lady Yellowjackets on Tuesday, Oct. 3; first pitch at 5:30 p.m.
