Dr. Charlotte L. Jeffreys, an Attapulgus native, was recently awarded with the President’s Call to Service Award, also known as the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. She was nominated for the award by the RiseHer Network (RHN), an Atlanta-based certifying organization that finds and nominates individuals for these awards. Dr. Jeffreys was recognized for her volunteer and ministry work; this includes her TV and radio ministry, Divine Direction Ministries, as well as her advocacy for AIDs patients.
Dr. Jeffreys, currently based in Atlanta, lost her husband of 21 years to AIDs, resulting in her advocacy. She began her ministry in 1996. She has also served on various boards for the City of Atlanta, as well as various organizations, including Priests for Life.
“None of what I did was for recognition,” Jeffreys said. “It was heartfelt and I did it to help people, no matter the sacrifice. What you do for others, God will do for you!”
