It has become a Bainbridge tradition for members of the local Lions Club to join in the annual November recognition and celebration of Veterans. Club members are pleased to provide a small American flag to people who attend. People from around Bainbridge take this opportunity to come together as a community to honor the selflessness and courage of the men and women who have served. Each one has been willing to risk their personal future so that ours is secure. It is especially important to remember the lives that have been sacrificed so that we can enjoy the freedoms that make up our everyday lives. We look to the future as well as to history. Our young people who participate in the ROTC and music portions of these ceremonies also make us proud to claim this corner of the United States. We depend on them to carry forward the American spirit that has made America a leader of nations.
After we have spent a few minutes together and go our separate ways, the simple reality continues: our thanks go to the veterans.
