Kenneth Colbert Horn was born February 21, 1947, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Emmett and Louise Colbert Horn. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and Valdosta State College. In 1984, Ken married the love of his life, Peggi French, and they continued to make their home in Bainbridge. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Ron Betts Sunday School Class. Ken worked in human resources at Amoco Fabrics for 20+ years, then later as a realtor with Premier Realty. He was a former member of Kiwanis and Bainbridge Lions Club.
Ken was a “people person”. He loved every minute being around people and getting to know their stories. (He had a few of his own.) He enjoyed fishing, golf, and football. For years, you could find Ken meeting new friends at Centennial Field on Friday nights where he passed out calendars/football schedule magnets that surely wound up on hundreds of refrigerators in our community. Younger Ken could hold his own on the tennis court and even ran a few 5ks. His favorite place to relax was the beach where pelicans piqued his interest. Ken was always gracious and kind, loving the community nearly as much as his precious family and dog, Auburn.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Peggi Horn; his children, Heath & Amanda Horn, René Goodson, Emmett & Jessica Horn, all of Roanoke, AL, Leslie Bernier of Bainbridge, Natalie & Tim Dixon and Amy & Matt Land all of Dalton, GA; his grandchildren, Sara Kate, Wyatt, Jacob & Chelsea, Chloe, Tori, Alex & Trey, Courtney & Grayson, Lauren & Rob, Mallory & Ben, Bowen & Andrew, McCord, Banks, and Cross; and his great-grandchildren, Sullivan, Lofton, Mack, John Pat, Mary Thompson, Haviland, Bauer, Lake, and Hattie. Ken was preceded in death by his parents.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
