The Decatur County Commissioners met for their first meeting of December and last meeting of the year on Tuesday morning. Items on the agenda included consideration of approval for qualifying fees for elected offices; as well as appointments. These included Jeff Rich and Dr. Frank Flowers to the Bainbridge-Decatur County Planning Commission; Glenn Heard to the Bainbridge-Decatur County Industrial Development Authority; Steve Brock, Stephanie Daniels and Billy Poppell to the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission; Sherry Hutchins and Jamie Earp to the county Board of Health; and Rob Cohen to the Decatur-Seminole County Joint Development Authority.
The commissioners also approved two alcoholic beverage licenses, one for A and A Convenience Store on Faceville Highway, and the other for Quick Buys #51 on Whigham Dairy Road. Lastly, the commissioners voted to cancel their December 26 meeting.
After the meeting had adjourned, the commissioners loaded up several bikes and scooters, the purchase of which had been sponsored by the commissioners. These are to be donated to the Division of Family and Children’s Services.
