Lee Carroll Cason, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at her residence in Recovery, Georgia.

Given the name Wallis Lee Carroll by her loving parents, she was the only child of Carrie Lee Snellgrove Carroll and Walter Haywood Carroll. Born and raised in Cairo, Georgia, she was a proud Cairo Syrupmaker Band member. She attended Tift College for Women then Georgia Southern University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

She met Wilbur Lee Cason, Jr in the fall of 1959 at a Georgia Southern New Student’s meeting. Within three months, she and “Dub” married, graduating together in August of 1961. They spent 64 years joyfully married spending most of their early years living in Atlanta and Thomasville, Georgia. They retired and moved to Recovery, Georgia on Lake Seminole in 1993.

Lee was a member of Recovery Methodist Church where she was the Church Board Secretary for years. She sang in the choir and especially enjoyed being a part of Christmas cantatas. She held various roles in the community including the role of a Voting Precinct Poll Manager and was a proud member of the Thomasville, Georgia DAR. She was a member of The OWLS Book Club of Recovery, Georgia, an avid bird watcher and collector of hummingbird memorabilia. She and Dub hosted many dinner and game nights on Lake Seminole through the years.

Lee leaves behind her husband, Dub, her daughter Karen Lee Cason, now from Recovery, Georgia, and her children Cason, Grace and Avan Haughton. She also leaves behind her son Kevin Lee Cason with his wife Diane Dill Cason, from Dacula, and their children Ethan, Braden and Addelyn Cason. Not to be left out, she also leaves behind her dear cat, Timmy.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am Monday, January 29, 2024, at Recovery Methodist Church in Recovery, Georgia followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am under the caring guidance of Pastor Charlie Boyd. A meal will be provided immediately following for family, friends and all in attendance. Please stay and remember Lee with us as we rejoice in a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for gifts to be offered to Recovery Methodist Church.
