Good afternoon,
What a great week it has been at Bainbridge High School! I am thrilled to share positive updates and achievements from our outstanding students and activities.
First, let’s congratulate Mr. Brock Howell, a senior and FBLA Vice President, on being selected as a semifinalist for a Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business Dean’s Scholarship. This prestigious recognition highlights Brock’s superb academic achievements and leadership potential.
Additionally, seven of our seniors had the opportunity to explore Roosevelt Warm Springs and learn about the various post-secondary education programs available to them for career development after high school.
Our Math Club has also been making waves, raising nearly $500 at our Chick-fil-A night and visiting the Mag Lab at FSU. Special thanks to Mr. Tim Echols, Georgia Public Service Commissioner, for his insightful discussion about energy management with Mr. Kelly’s AP Calculus class.
In club news, the Anchor Club members showcased their dedication at the District Anchor Club Convention at Epworth by the Sea, winning the award for “Most Spirited Club.” Anastasia Davis and Mackenzie Antis gave up their positions as District Secretary and SW Region Chair, respectively. Gurpreet Kaur and Laney Bradford ran to replace them and will now serve on the district board as secretary and SW Region Chair. The club received the “Most Spirited Club” award, and the scrapbook received an honorable mention.
In CTAE, our ECE students assisted Hutto Elementary students, working with them on animating their European Explorer, giving three facts about that explorer, and animating other objects that went along with their explorer. The Poultry Evaluation Team secured 2nd place in the Area 5 CDE, qualifying for the State Competition. Team members include Carson Lynn, Addison Cook, Ansley Cook, and Kell Donalson. This team will compete in Athens on March 21 and 22 for the State Title.
Academically, students in Environmental Science have been studying modeling nutrient movement in ecosystems and emphasizing the importance of genetic diversity through engaging simulations.
In the arts, our BHS Band had a unique opportunity to perform alongside Dallas Brass, while the Art Club contributed to the community by teaching painting techniques at the Level Up after-school program.
Athletically, our Lady Cats and Bearcat Soccer Teams have been dominating, achieving remarkable victories. The Lady Cats defeated Valwood (3-2), Brookwood (4-1), Hardaway (10-0). The Bearcats have beaten Valwood (5-0), Brookwood (5-0), Hardaway (10-0).
Congratulations to the Bainbridge High School Bass Cats for performing at the Florida Bass Nation on the St. John’s River March 3rd-4th. Senior Division: Hayden Reynolds and Caleb Logue placed 5th on Saturday and 6th on Sunday. Brennan Enfinger and Cy Taunton finished 6th on Saturday. In the Junior Division: Fisher Baty and Cole Henderson- 1st place on Saturday
Congratulations to the Bainbridge High School Baseball team on their victories over Valdosta (6-3) and Westover (2-1, 18-5, and 19-9).
