The Ladycats defeated Miller County 3-2 on Monday afternoon. Bainbridge won with a singles win and a doubles sweep.
The team’s No. 2 singles player, Caroline Maxwell, was out due to sickness, and Sophomore Alyssa Jackson stepped up to fill the spot. Ladycats’ head coach Xavier Bell said he was proud of the team for being able to get the win shorthanded.
“It’s a great win,” Bell said. “Especially the fact that we could manage to figure it out even with missing that number two.”
The Ladycats take on Cairo in their next match on Wednesday, Mar. 20. Bell said the Cairo rivalry doesn’t run as deep in tennis, but it was still a date they had circled on the schedule.
“If it’s Cairo, we want to beat them,” Bell said. “They got to take one on the nose.”
