The Bearcats move on to the quarterfinals of the GHSA 4A Tennis State Playoffs with a 3-1 win over Island High School Tuesday. The victory came courtesy of two singles wins and a doubles win.
Bainbridge head coach Xavier Bell said confidence was the key to the Bearcats’ second-round victory.“We stepped out there, and we just went on and handled it,” Bell said. That confidence, it was there.”
The Bearcats welcome Westminster High School to Bainbridge for their third-round matchup. The Wildcats are a powerhouse, according to Bell, but he said the round-two win gives his team a boost.
“It gives me hope, we’ve got a chance,” Bell said. “The next round’s going to be a tough one… but if we can knock their head off, we definitely got a chance to play for a ring.
The match date is TBD, but it has to be played before Tuesday, April 30th.
