Two Ladycat soccer players were chosen as the best in their positions in Region 1-4A this season. Nicole Tyre was crowned Region Midfield of the Year, and Emma Ryan Shirley was named Region Defensive Player of the Year.
“I’m proud for those young women,” said Ladycats head soccer coach Brian Hill. “It’s good for them to get that [recognition] for all the hard work they’ve put in and for the rest of the region to recognize that as well.”
Tyre led the team in assists (18) and assists per game (1.1) and finished the season second in goals (29).
Shirley ended the year with three goals and three assists, fourth on the team in both categories.
Their contributions helped the Ladycats achieve their first undefeated regular season in program history. The Ladycats earned an undefeated, 14-1-0 regular season record. They beat regular season opponents by an average of 4.5 goals and finished the season with a 90-21 scoring differential. They recorded six shutouts and won 60% of games by five or more goals.
Six other Ladycat players received All-Region honors.
Brenna Conley, Elvira Hernandez and Abigail Holley were named to the All-Region 1st team.
Kierstyn White and Alicia Sarmiento were chosen for the All-Region 2nd team.
