Members of the Bainbridge Rotary Club met at the Kirbo Center on Tuesday for their weekly meeting. The guest speakers of the day were Nancy Grimsley and Stephanie Sorrelle with Friends Ministries.
Grimsley, the Chairman of the Board at Friends Ministries, took to the podium first, going over the history of the organization, back to its founding with Jane Forsyth and her “Bible and a Blanket” method in 1991. Currently, Friends Ministries sees 160 kids come every day. Grimsley went on to give an overview of the various activities children will engage in while at the Friendship House, as well as during the summertime.
“We’ve been blessed, God’s blessed this ministry unbelievably through the years,” Grimsley said.
She then introduced Sorrelle, the program director at Still Waters, the ministry’s women’s shelter. She discussed the 12-week “Pathways” program she organizes for residents of the shelter, as well as the efforts they go to to help get the women back on their feet.
The presentation ended with both taking questions from the audience.
