This year marks the first year Spring Creek Charter Academy has fielded a varsity football team, despite not yet having a 12th grade class. The SCCA Stallions went up against SWGA STEM Charter Academy last Friday, where they unfortunately fell 52-6. Despite the loss, Coach Marcus Singletary said that the players understood the team’s position, and weren’t discouraged. “They’re excited,” he said, “they’re not hanging their hats on wins and losses.” Currently, the Stallions team only has 19 players in total, with only two juniors as the oldest players. Due to their current size, the team will be playing on a non-region schedule, traveling around Florida and Alabama to compete. One aspect of having such a small team is that everyone contributes to the game. “Nobody sits the bench, everyone finds some way to contribute,” Singletary said. He praised the team’s participation in summer practice, and their commitment, saying, “The commitment these kids and our parents have put in is unreal.” He also thanked the school administration for its support as well. The Stallions’ next game will be a home game, held at the Recreation Authority fields, this Friday at 7:30 PM, against Rock Springs Christian Academy.
