Sheffield was special

Seminole and Decatur counties truly lost a master teacher and a wonderful person when “Miss” Karen Broome Sheffield passed away on May 25.
She loved the poor, the needy, the rich and the famous, and was comfortable with everyone. She loved life and people knew that she was mesmerized by children of all ages.
She owned and operated the Children’s Manor in Donalsonville and the Mother Goose in Bainbridge for more than 30 years.
“Miss” Karen was famous for her ability to teach children absolutely anything, and for her outstanding end-of-the-year programs. I feel like her ability to instill self confidence and a true love for learning were two of her greatest qualities.
She loved her family beyond measure, and God only knows how much she worshipped her three children and her four grandchildren.
She loved her husband, Tom, and he was both her friend and confident. She was always there for me, and I was always there for her. What more can best friends ask of each other?
