As Spring Creek Charter Academy continues to grow, so too does its sports programs. Currently, the school has middle school and JV basketball teams. So far this season, the middle school boys have played seven games, with one win, while the middle school girls have yet to win. According to Coach Shawntray Session, there is currently only a JV Boys team “due to the lack of interest in the upper grades.”
“We have a lot of first-time players,” Session said, “but the kids play with heart and I’m very appreciative to have such a great group of kids.”
When asked what her view on the teams and the upcoming season, she said, “My outlook on the team is that, even though we are so young, the kid’s heart is in the right place, that allows them to be very coachable.” She continued, “Being coachable will allow us to win games and most importantly work together as a team. On day one, I told my players that we are a family and family stick together and work hard for one another.”
Session stated that the team shows dedication and hard work “every day”.
“They really have the potential to be great players,” she said. “They don’t care where we practice as long as they can practice. We have had some very interesting places to practice, but the kids don’t mind it, they just want to play.”
