The funeral service for Helen Hamlin Henshaw, 85, of Bainbridge, Ga., will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W. Earl Henshaw officiating.

Interment will follow at New Fountainhead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. Henshaw was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Clearwater, Fla., the daughter of William Henry Hamlin and Ethel Mae Hopper Hamlin. She died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Bainbridge Health Care.

She was a graduate of Charlevoix High School, Class of 1943. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Anderson College and her Master’s in Education from Troy State University. She was an elementary school teacher and taught in Faceville and Bainbridge. She retired from Jones-Wheat Elementary School as a reading coordinator. She was a member of the Decatur-Seminole Retired Educators Association and served many years as a volunteer tax preparer.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Henshaw.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. W. Earl Henshaw of Bainbridge; her son, Mike Henshaw of Thomasville; her brother, Herb Hamlin of Eustis, Fla., and five grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
