The FFA livestock teams for Bainbridge High, Hutto and West Bainbridge recently competed in the Area FFA Livestock Judging Career Development Event.
The event was held at the Albany Exchange Club Fair in Albany on Nov. 7, 2008. The Bainbridge High team placed third in the contest.
The Livestock Judging Career Development Event allows agricultural education students the opportunity to make accurate observations of livestock, determine the desirable traits in animals, make logical decisions based on their observations, and discuss and defend those decisions.
Participants place classes of breeding and market beef, sheep and swine, and then give oral reasons to the judges as to why they placed each class as they did.
Bainbridge High team members include Will Bius, McKenzie Conder and Nolan Lovering.
Hutto Middle team members include Audrey Anderson, Hannah Bius, Clint Edmunds and Taylor Strickland.
West Bainbridge team members include Savanna Chason, Sydney Manley, Maclane Suber and Trey Suber.
The teams were coached by Martin Bius, Decatur Young Farmer teacher; Jesse Kelly, Hutto FFA adviser and Kaye Lynn Hataway, West Bainbridge FFA adviser.
The Livestock Judging Career Development Event is sponsored by the Georgia FFA Foundation.
