The awards continue to come for former Bainbridge High School Bearcats Region 1AAAA defensive player of the year and current University of Georgia Bulldogs redshirt sophomore linebacker Darryl Gamble.
Gamble, who had 40- and 53-yard interception returns for touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 52-38 Southeastern Conference (SEC) victory over the LSU Tigers last Saturday in Baton Rouge, La., has been named winner of the Football Writers Association of America’s (FWAA) Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week Award.
He had previously been named SEC defensive player of the week for his outstanding performance against LSU, which also included a career-high 13 tackles.
