Funeral services for Mr. Ted Earl Cook, 64, of Bainbridge, will be held Thursday, April 22, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Cox-Ware Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Markham and Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cox-Ware Funeral Home.

Born March 1, 1946 in Colquitt, Ga., Mr. Cook passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Cook had lived in Decatur County since 1985, when he moved from El Paso, Texas, where he was serving with the United States Army. He was a United States Army Veteran serving three tours in Vietnam and nine years in Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star, a Purple Heart, and numerous other medals and awards. Mr. Cook retired from the United States Army in 1984 as an E8/Master Sergeant. He was a member of West St. Baptist Church, the American Legion, and VFW Post No. 4904. He loved fishing, hunting, reading, and his family.

Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Carolyn Suggs, Jeanette Cook, and Meryl Whitten; and brother, Perry Cook.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Martha Pearl Vickers Cook of Bainbridge; five sons, Adrian Adams, Bryan Adams, and Scott Adams, all of Bainbridge, Zack Adams of Tallahassee, Fla., and Ted Cook Jr. of Vida, Ore.; four brothers, Carlton and Andrew Cook both of Bainbridge, Tony Cook, and Gerald Cook of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Bessie Owens of Brinson, Mary Ann Mitchell of Cairo, Ga., Phyllis Williams and Gloria Cook, both of Bainbridge; and seven grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
