Funeral services for Verdie Lee Spooner Cox, 84, of Bainbridge, will be held Friday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. James Williamson and Dr. Don Pravatt officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Decatur County April 27, 1925, Mrs. Cox died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School and was famous for her banana pudding. She was a lifetime resident of Decatur County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Decar Covington Cox; and siblings Wesley Spooner, Madison Spooner, Albert Spooner, Roy Spooner, William Henry Spooner, Lillian Brown and Mattie Mae Brown.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her two daughters, Glennie C. Gray of Thomasville, Ga., and Mary Blair of Bainbridge; two sons, William Cox and Carey Cox, both of Bainbridge; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
