Funeral services for Max Eugene Wells, 71, of Damascus, Ga., were held Thursday, Oct. 29, in the chapel of Colquitt Funeral Home in Colquitt, Ga., with the Revs. Calvin Arnold and Buren Womble officiating.
Interment followed at Whites Bridge Cemetery in Miller County with Kim Rentz, Ricki Rentz, Stuart Kelley, Brad Kelley, Chris Kelley and Robbie Phillips serving as active pallbearers.
Born Jan. 20, 1938, in Miller County, Mr. Wells died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Miller County Hospital.
Mr. Wells was of the Baptist faith. He was a Georgia State Patrolman for 14 years, he worked for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Child Support Recovery office in Cuthbert, Ga., for several years before retiring from the Early County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Haire Wells of Damascus; a daughter, Dawn Kelley of Colquitt; two sons, Bryan Wells of Colquitt and Tim Wells of Marietta, Ga.; two step-sons, Dexter Griffin of Leesburg, Ga., and Lowell Griffin of Bainbridge; three sisters, Jeanette Rentz and Carolyn Kelley, both of Bainbridge, and Debra Phillips of Colquitt; and 12 grandchildren.
Colquitt Funeral Home in Colquitt, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
