Memorial services for David O. Smith, 62, of Whigham, Ga., will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Cox-Ware Funeral Home with the Rev. Donna Bevels officiating.
Native American memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will also follow at a later date in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Everett, Wash.
Born Jan. 29, 1947, in Everett, Wash., Mr. Smith died on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Smith was a mechanic and of the Baptist faith. He had lived in Grady County for the past nine years and visited Providence Baptist Church. He was a past president of the Eagles Club in Everett, Wash., and was a Tribal Member of the Georgia Kokeneshv Natchez Nation. His Native American name was “Red Bear.”
Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Rachel Pashman of Whigham and Gail Yvette Driver of Cherryville, N.C., and six grandchildren.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
