Louise Dixon-Lyons

Funeral services for Louise Elogy Dixon-Lyons, 85, of Bainbridge, were held Monday, Aug. 31, at Nelson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Thomas officiating.
Interment followed in Pineview Cemetery with friends of Mrs. Dixon-Lyons’ family serving as active pallbearers.
Born June 13, 1924, in Bainbridge, Mrs. Dixon-Lyons died on Aug. 24, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
Mrs. Lyons-Dixon grew up in Bainbridge and was educated in the Decatur County school system, where she attended Hutto High School. She later attended Florida A&M University and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta. She relocated to New York, where she worked for and retired from the New York City public transit system. After returning to Bainbridge nearly 20 years ago, she reunited with Nelson Chapel A.M.E. She was also a supporter and active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert M. Lyons, and her son, Charles L. Jackson.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Lyons-Davidson of New York, two grandsons, two great-grandsons and a host of other family and friends.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.
