Dorethea Brown

Funeral services for Dorethea J. Brown, 83, of Decatur County, were held Thursday, July 2, at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Fowlstown, with the Revs. Leander Brown, Frank DeYounks, J.C. Jackson and Minister Robert Brown officiating.

Interment followed at Peterson Cemetery in Faceville with Xavier Brown, Patrick Harper, Benjamin Smith, Michael Smith, Lernard A. Brown, Edwin Brown and Dominic Brown serving as active pallbearers.
Born Dec. 23, 1925, in Manatee County, Fla., Mrs. Brown died on June 28, 2009, at Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown, Fla.

Mrs. Brown attended the public schools of Decatur County. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Faceville.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Emory King Brown Sr.

Survivors include a sister, Verdell Gillard of Miami, Fla.; four sons, John A. Brown of Fort Washington, Md., Emory K. Brown of Faceville, W. Bernard Brown and Minister Robert T. Brown, both of Augusta, Ga., and Minister Leander Brown of Greensboro, N.C.; three daughters, Gloria Brown Harper of Wilmington, Del., Ruby Brown Davis of Blountstown, Fla., and Janet Brown Williams of Enterprise, Ala.; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three sisters in law and a host of other relatives and friends.

Chandler’s Funeral Home in Attapulgus was in charge of funeral arrangements.
