Funeral services for Willie Charles “W.C.” Jackson, 81, of Bainbridge, will be held today, May 9, at 11 a.m. at Second St. James Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Roberts officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery with nephews and friends serving as active pallbearers.
Born Aug. 9, 1927, in Bainbridge, Mr. Jackson died on Saturday, May 2, at Bainbridge Healthcare after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Jackson was a self-employed brick mason and was employed with Bainbridge Union Cab Company for more than 20 years, and also ran a local cafe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was a past commander of a local American Legion post.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Jackson; four sons, Rakim Muhammad, Kenneth Jackson, Charlie Jackson and Benjamin Jackson; four daughters, Minnie Hill, Wylla Jackson, Brenda Jackson and Elizabeth Simpson; a stepdaughter, Eleanor Bowden; 14 grandchildren and eight grandchildren; special friends, Helen Linton and “Smiley,” and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Bruton Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
