Cross country teams start well

Coach Jennifer Oldaker’s Bainbridge High School and Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross country teams opened their seasons Saturday at the Valdosta High School and Middle School Wildcats and Lady Wildcats Invitational Meet.
Coach Oldaker praised community coach Greg Waddell for getting the runners ready.
“Coach Waddell has done an excellent job training our runners,” she said.
The varsity Bearcats finished fifth in a seven team field. Their leading runner was Davey Reynolds with a 5,000 meter, 3.1 mile time of 20:19.
He was followed closely by Tae Ross with a time of 20:26.
The varsity Lady Cats finished fourth in a six team field. Their leading runner Paige Braswell finished in a time of 24:41.
In middle school competition, the Bearcats took first place and the Lady Cats took second. Bearcat Bennett Enfinger took the top spot in the middle school boys division and his teammates Matthew Green and Brendan Greene were fourth and sixth.
Lady Cat Jessica Miranda finished second overall in the middle school girls division.
