A memorial service for Joe Thomas, 85, of Bainbridge, will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Grace Church with Pastor Andy McQuaid officiating.

Mr. Thomas was born Jan. 6, 1926 in Bellepoint, Ohio, the son of George Frederick Thomas and Maude Pearl Watson Thomas. He died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at his residence. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired food service manager. He was a member of Kline Baptist Church in Kline, S.C.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara Jane Thomas of Bainbridge; his daughter, Tonya Strickland and her husband, Charlie, of Bainbridge; and his grandchildren, Joelle Thomas of Manchester, Conn., Matthew Thomas of Warner Robins, Ga., and Chuck Strickland of Bainbridge.
