Larry McFadden

Funeral services for Larry Pat McFadden, 61, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Friday, Oct. 24, in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. John Turner officiating.

Burial was at McFadden Properties, Lokchasassa Wilderness Project in Donalsonville with Phillip Buckhalter, Scott Gatlin, Jerry Godby, Hiram Mock, Richard Thomas and Raymond Wilson serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Allen, Mark Hanna, Glenn Kirbo, Steve Amerison, Steve Jordan, Blake Mock, Geoffrey Dunne, Terry Kile, Jim Patterson, Paul Stones and Earlie J. Richardson.

Mr. McFadden was born on in Mitchell County, Ga., and died on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga.

He attended Lee County High School and went on to become an airplane builder, welder, a boat captain, pilot and stock market investor. He was an accomplished artist, and a collector of rare and beautiful music boxes.

In 1992 he helped set up PAWS. In five years they managed to rescue 1,800 dogs and cats and find deserving families for them to adopt. He and his life partner, Angela, opened Lokchasassa Wilderness Project, a 1,300-acre Seminole County Garden of Eden, to protect the native plants and wildlife.

He is survived by his life partner, Angela Hagen of Donalsonville; daughter, Lani Bruner of Leesburg, Ga., and other relatives.
