Funeral services for Rucell Burke, 88, of 124 Russ St., were held Friday, Oct. 17, at Branchville Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Sylvester Robinson officiating.

Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Colquitt, Ga., with grandchildren serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Branchville M.B. Church deacons.

Mrs. Burke was born in Miller County, Ga., and died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, in Decatur County, Ga. She was a housewife and member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Burke.

She is survived by five sons, Lester Burke, Wilson Burke, James Burke, Terry Burke and Danny Burke Sr.; two daughters, Joyce Temple and Jacquelyn Burke; two brothers, Earnest Williams and Joseph Williams Jr.; two sisters, Marjorie Williams and Annette Williams Hayes; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
